One of the more interesting but all-too-predictable reactions to CERTAIN's assertions of racism in actions and rhetoric by some anti-whaling and ARA individuals or groups involved in the Makah whaling controversy has been the leveling of charges of "reverse racism," or simple claims that Indians accusing white ARAs of racist behavior are racists themselves.
The actual issues, rhetoric, and events leading to Indians' charges of racism are never addressed - the childish tactic from the word game of "I know you are but what am I?" is employed almost without exception.
With that in mind, and having attempted at length to explain the institutional nature of racism, and the difference between racism and simple prejudice, CERTAIN directs viewers to the following pages that discuss the nature and definition of racism, or that can do something about racist practices that deprive oppressed peoples of their civil rights:
- A Definition of Racism
- The United States Commission on Civil Rights - There's a link to a Publications Web Page that includes reports on anti-Indian racism
