Some Quotable Quotes From The "We're Not Racists" Crowd
Opposing The Makah Whale Hunt

- "Captain" Paul Watson of Sea Shepherd, safe aboard the Sirenian a safe distance from the Makah gathered on the shore at Neah Bay, through the ship's loudspeaker system:
"Just because you were born stupid doesn't mean you have to be stupid!!!"
- Patrick "Stingray" (?) O'Brien, via e-mail (stingray@marine.fsbusiness.co.uk):
"You are the one speaking a "crock of shit"!! Excuse the language, but I've heard your lame excuses regurgitated over and over again. IT IS NOT SANCTIONED BY THE IWC!! (It has, per IWC Secretary Ray Gambell) IT HAS BEEN RULED ILLEGAL BY THE US COURTS!! (Wrong again...in fact, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals found the hunt itself to be both sanctioned by the IWC and to be legal; the only fault found was with the Environmental Assessment procedure) It has as much cultural significance to "native americans"?, as your consuption of alcohol or gambling revenue does" (emphasis added).
The west used to have this "dewy eyed" outlook of Indians. Even using them to project a positive image of man and his relationship with the environment?? Thank god the Makah have blown that away. To tell you the truth, I've read enough about the Makah to last me a lifetime and I really don't give a damn what you do. I only hope the "scientific" analysis of eating whales is true and that you, along with your Japanese backers, are as "contaminated" as the whales you are killing " (since no one from CERTAIN is "killing" any whales, this non sequitur speaks only to Patrick's stereotypical belief that all "Indians" are the same, i.e., one uniform, undifferentiated people, rather than diverse nations of peoples with differing beliefs and traditions...).

Well...thanks for your opinion, Pat...also, note Pat's e-mail address...wonder what business he's in? Maybe the whale-watching industry? Or maybe just another professional protestor, like his boss, Paul Watson?
